Cincinnati defeats Illinois Piasa, 10-4 led by Sarkodie's four goals

The defending Eastern Division Champion Cincinnati Kings earned their first win of the 2011-2012 season with a 10-4 victory over the Illinois Piasa Saturday night at the Cincinnati Gardens.

The Kings jumped to the lead in the first quarter on two straight goals from Kwame Sarkodie. Illinois answered with an unassisted goal from Roger Gemoules to make the score 2-1 at the first break.

The Kings widened their lead to 4-1 at the half, with two answered goals, the first from Sarkodie for his hat trick, then from Sam Miller, with the assist from Sarkodie.

In the third, the scoring was all Kings with five straight goals, including scores from Will Peppard, Sam Fiore, Rashawn Lamar and two by Allen Eller, to stretch the lead to 9-1 heading into the fourth.

Six minutes into the fourth, Sarkodie netted his fourth goal of the night. Illinois
closed out the scoring with three unanswered goals late in the game.

The Kings are now 1-3 on the season. The Kings’ next home game is next Saturday, December 3, at the Gardens against Ohio.
